CapMetro launches 'Magic of Transit' series for holiday season
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- It might not be the Polar Express, but CapMetro is ringing in the holidays with a series of events as part of its "Magic of Transit" initiative.
The Austin transit authority will host customer appreciation events throughout December, including breakfast and coffee provided at multiple transit stops, a social media contest and surprise fare pass giveaways. Those interested in participating in the social media contest can take a photo of themselves riding CapMetro services, add the hashtag #MagicOfTransit and tag CapMetro to be eligible for one of three prizes.
All three winners will receive CapMetro goodies and free tickets to the Paramount Theater. The grand prize winner will also win a free yearlong CapMetro commuter pass, while second and third place winners will receive monthlong and weeklong free passes, respectively.
Holiday pop-up events are slated for:
- Thursday, Dec. 5: 7 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Station
- Wednesday, Dec. 11: 6 a.m. at Leander Station
- Monday, Dec. 16: 6 a.m. at Manor Park & Ride
Impromptu visits throughout December will also be made, with 600 bus and rail passes set to be distributed. Those riding the CapMetro Red Line on Dec. 14 can listen to some holiday carols on their commute, courtesy Austin FC's supporter section band, La Murga.
