One killed in three-vehicle crash, Lafayette sheriff says
YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- One person died and another person was injured in a three-vehicle crash this afternoon in Youngsville, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said the crash claimed the life of 41-year-old Richard Stutes Jr.
The crash occurred in the 700 block of Piat Road in Youngsville around 12:45 p.m.
According to a news release, one driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of a second vehicle was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
Piat Road, between Austin Road and Egret Road, was closed for several hours for the police investigation. That area has since reopened, authorities said.
