MLB Insiders Unanimously Agree On Juan Soto Decision Timeline

It’s widely expected that Juan Soto will put pen to paper at some point over the next week.

Scott Boras, who represents the superstar slugger, isn’t quite ready to admit a deal will come that quickly. Boras went as far as to claim nothing was “imminent” when meeting with reporters at Blake Snell’s introductory press conference at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, but reporters closely tapped into dealings believe the opposite.

MLB.com put together a moderated debate between beat reporters who cover the teams believed to be in contention for Soto.

New York Yankees beat reporter Bryan Hoch, New York Mets beat reporter Anthony DiComo, Boston Red Sox beat reporter Ian Browne and MLB senior national reporter Mark Feinsand were the participants, and all had the same answer when asked by Alyson Footer whether or not Soto would sign with a team before the Winter Meetings conclude Dec. 11.

Feinsand: True.

DiComo: True.

Browne: True.

Hoch: I sure hope so. Let’s agree not to leave Dallas without a deal.

Soto has garnered interest from the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Blue Jays and Dodgers, and reportedly has already received offers of $600 million or more from each. It’s also believed the 26-year-old has started eliminating teams from his list, meaning there isn’t much left to do but try and squeeze some more money from each of those still in the race.

Boras might not be ready to admit it, but the ball is now in Soto’s court.
