One Tottenham midfielder says that Ange Postecoglou is like a father figure to the squad, revealing that the Australian often advises them on non-football matters.

Even though Tottenham‘s results have been inconsistent this season, there is no doubt that the players have fully bought into Postecoglou‘s methods and his style of play.

Whenever the 59-year-old has looked under pressure, like he was following Tottenham’s loss against Ipswich, the squad has pulled out a spirited performance out of the bag such as the win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the players will know that they have to produce a consistent level of performance if they are to fulfil Postecoglou’s ambitions of winning a trophy this season.

Pape Sarr’s admission about Ange Postecoglou

Sarr has now revealed that a lot of players in the squad see Postecoglou as more than just their head coach. He admitted that the Spurs boss’ demanding nature has helped him become a better player over the past 18 months.

The midfielder told The Times about Postecoglou: “I think the coach is like a dad to us. Because he helps us a lot, both on and off the field. He gives us advice even in non-football matters.

“On the pitch, we all know he demands a lot but then he’s a real winner. I like him as he doesn’t like losing, he’s very demanding and helps me improve from day to day.”

Sarr on Tottenham’s inconsistency

Sarr admitted that he and his teammates were on cloud nine after the 4-0 win over Manchester City.

However, he remarked that the team’s inconsistency is not down to approaching different games with a different mindset, insisting that there are no easy games in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old said about the win over the champions: “It was an incredible game. It’s not easy going away to City and winning 4-0. We took our opportunities and really enjoyed the occasion: before, during and after the match.”

When asked about Spurs’ inconsistency, Sarr responded: “That’s football isn’t it and why the English league is the best in the world. But we are still the same team, we work hard in training, we approach each game and play each game in the same way. We played Ipswich the same way we played City.”
