Suspect identified in Troy officer-involved shooting

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- In an update on the officer-involved shooting in Troy on Monday, Troy Police said Michael L. Broadie, 39, of Albany, is facing four counts of first-degree attempted murder of a police officer. Police also said he is also accused of possessing ecstasy pills.

Police said Broadie fired one round from a semi-automatic handgun before a malfunction prevented more rounds from being fired. Sergeant Matthew Beaudoin and officers Nico Carello, Jared Faden, and Angelo Migliore all fired their weapons at Broadie, totaling 18 rounds.

Broadie is in stable condition at a local hospital after receiving injuries to his torso, leg, and lip. Police said he was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday, December 3, by a Rensselaer County Court Judge.

Police said all the gunshots between Broadie and law enforcement concluded within five seconds. Police said they found in an investigation that Broadie was out on bail after being arrested by the Albany Police Department arrested Broadie in September for allegedly possessing three illegal handguns.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking residents of 10th Street, near Eagle Street to Jacob Street, and Jacob Street, from 10th Street to River Street, to share information or surveillance footage to share it with detectives.
