Brits in College Women | November recap
The college seasons have just started, so it is time for the latest update on how the Brits got on through the first month of competition.
NCAA Division 1
Despite St Peter’s’ 0-5 record in the month, Fatmata Janneh is having a stellar start this season. The sophomore had two 20-point games, including a huge double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds as she played 34 minutes.
Loren Christie, certainly dropped her best performance of the season so far against Mercyhurst as she tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. However, her best scoring performance came a few days later as she fired in a season-high 19 points in 18 minutes in a loss against Kent State.
Susannah Rafiu started all eight games in November; averaging 7.6 points so far and recorded her best game as she scored 16 points in a narrow loss against Villanova. Precious Omoshola dropped 13 points in 16 minutes off the bench for Fordham, going 6/9 from the field.
Elsewhere, Emma Imevbore registered her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds off the bench in a probant win against North Dakota State, while Issy Bunyan started the month with her best performance of the season so far with Montana State, she scored eight points and recorded five steals in 19 minutes off the bench.
Jessica Ford netted 11 points against Concordia-St. Paul, her second double figures game of the month as she scored 10 points to start her season. Rebecca Dwomoh scored a season-high 11 points as she logged 25 minutes off the bench in an OT loss at the hands of Charleston.
Molly Lavin netted a best of seven points in two consecutive games for Drexel. Esther Little scored her season best with six points with Gonzaga as she played 19 minutes off the bench, and Grace Strickland finished the month on a high note as she recorded a season-high with 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench.
NCAA Division 2
Ella Doherty is having a fantastic start this season. The senior is averaging 16.4 points in the month and posted a 20-point double-double performance in a win against Fresno. Simona Henshaw had two consecutive double figures games for Edward Waters including her season-high 16 points.
Meanwhile, Megan Jones recorded two games in a row with at least 10 boards. Her best came in a loss at the hands of Moorhead with 11 rebounds while scoring eight points. Ella Pearson posted nine points and six rebounds as a season best to start the season with Newberry College, while Khia Lee is looking to earn more minutes.
Anna Nevison had a nine-points outing for Alaska Fairbanks coming off the bench in a win over Jessup. Mariam Olawoyin had a best of eight points for Mississipi College as she came of the bench in a win over Spring Hill. Meanwhile, Shaniya Rose had back-to-back games with 10 points in November – the second game was her best performance with season-highs in points with 14 and seven rebounds.
Zoe Sharpe started her freshman year with Tusculum coming off the bench and posted two eight-points games. Violet Stutz had a great start posting a 12-point outing in her first game as she played 24 minutes off the bench. She then tallied 11 points and seven rebounds after earning a starter role throughout the month.
Lateisha Willis scored six points and grabbed six rebounds as Adelphi University took down Molloy in her best game of the month.
JUCO
Ebereu Egbirika is having a great start this season. She opened her sophomore season with a 26-point performance. Futhermore, she closed the month with back-to-back 20-point games and is averaging 15.3 points per game. Yazmin Edwards had a tough start but looked to turn a new leaf, dropping 22 points on Jessup. Elia Ando posted a 19-point season-high in a win over Coastal Bend, she had two other double figures games.
DeJanae Cassanova ended November with two consecutive double figures games including a season-high 16 points against Columbia State. Blanche Toualeu went 5/5, for a 15-point outing off the bench with the Bruins.
