MAGA world embraces new billionaire addition to Trump team as left decries 'oligarchy'

0

MAGA world heaped praise over President-elect Donald Trump’s new pick of tech investor and podcaster David Sacks as the so-called “White House AI and cryptocurrency czar.”

Trump made the announcement Thursday afternoon on his Truth Social platform, adding that Sacks’ role would entail him guiding policy for the administration in artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency.

Sacks, the billionaire host of the “All In” podcast and friend to Trump ally Elon Musk will also develop a “legal framework” for the crypto industry and “lead the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology,” Trump wrote.

The news sent the MAGA verse into a tizzy, with Trump loyalists bending over backward to celebrate the former Yammer CEO.

“Congrats to my bestie @DavidSacks on his new position as ‘White House AI & Crypto Czar,’” wrote “All In’ co-host and entrepreneur Jason Calacanis in a post on X.

“Congrats to @DavidSacks,” Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) wrote on social media. Elon Musk, who, like Sacks, was born in South Africa, replied to Vance’s post with his own warm message: “Indeed, congratulations David!”

Venture capitalist Shaun Maguire praised the latest addition to Trump’s new administration by telling his followers, “It’s time to build.”

And as expected, Trump himself painted his own glowing portrait of Sacks as “an extremely successful entrepreneur and investor for 25 years, building and investing in some of the most iconic companies in Silicon Valley.”

“David has the knowledge, business experience, intelligence, and pragmatism to MAKE AMERICA GREAT in these two critical technologies,” the incoming president wrote Thursday in his Truth Social post, adding: “Congratulations, David!”

But not all were on board with Sacks as head of the new agency.

“This is what oligarch looks like, folks,” journalist and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan warned on X.

Matt Novak, a Gizmodo tech reporter, made a similar observation, writing to his social media followers: “Just the sh--iest oligarchy.”

“Another billionaire white dude given a do nothing title,” Democratic strategist Chris D. Jackson wrote in an X post.
