1 arrested, guns seized after non-injury shooting in Old Town

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Police arrested a man and seized multiple guns from him after he allegedly fired shots in Old Town on Wednesday, though no one was injured, authorities said.

Officers responded at 10:14 p.m. to reports of a shooting near Northwest Northwest 5th Avenue and Northwest Everett Street. When they arrived, they found a crashed car at the intersection "and learned multiple occupants had just fled the scene," Portland Police Bureau said in a release.

"Officers quickly fanned out to attempt to locate the potential suspects," police said. "An officer spotted someone matching the description of someone who may have been involved, and detained Christopher Jude Weber, AKA Christopher Jude McClain, 37, several blocks away at Northwest 1st Avenue and Northwest Davis Street."

Police also seized two guns from the scene of the crash.

Weber was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of methamphetamine among other charges.

The shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Portland police.
