Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors begin their home back-to-back by hosting the Houston Rockets on Thursday night. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on NBA TV and NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State lost Tuesday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets, 119-115. They extended their current losing streak to five games and dropped to sixth in the Western Conference standings with their record of 12-8.

The Warriors’ defense had no answer for Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokic. The three-time league MVP put a monster stat line of 38 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and one block. Kevon Looney, who got the starting nod at center for the Warriors, put up a valiant effort against Jokic but fouled out late in the fourth quarter as the Nuggets seized momentum and took the win on an 11-0 run to close the game.

What to watch for tonight:

The Warriors face the first game of their back-to-back severely short-handed, with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green both ruled out. Curry continues to manage bilateral knee pain, which sidelined him for one game last week, while Green misses his second straight game due to left calf tightness. Adding to the uncertainty, starting small forward Andrew Wiggins is listed as questionable with a right ankle injury.

Meanwhile, the Rockets have emerged as one of the top teams in the Western Conference this season. Winners in three of their last four games, Houston sits second in the standings with a 15-7 record.

Under head coach Ime Udoka, the Rockets have made defense their identity. They boast the league’s second-best defensive rating (105.3) and lead the NBA with 50.1 rebounds per game—an area where a smaller Warriors squad could struggle to compete.

Golden State will need to lean heavily on its depth to snap their five-game losing streak and come away with a win in this challenging Western Conference matchup.
