Wetherspoons slashes price of a pint to just £1.50 for one day each week

0

WETHERSPOONS has slashed the price of a pint to just £1.50 for one day each week and punters will be delighted.

Customers can now enjoy a pint of real ale for as little as £1.49 as part of Real Ale Wednesday at all of its pubs in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Every Wednesday, Wetherspoons reduces real ale prices across its guest ales, so that customers can enjoy them at a lower price.

As well as regular Wetherspoon real-ale choices of Sharp’s Doom Bar, Greene King Abbot Ale and Ruddles, pubs will also have offers on regional guest ales from local breweries and microbreweries.

The pub chain switches up its real-ale offers every three months.

The cheapest price for a pint of real ale will start at £1.49 at 19 branches of Spoons, but the vast majority will charge £1.49.

But make sure you ask at the bar, as you could be charged as much as £3.49 for a pint.

For punters in Scotland, pubs will offer the deal from Monday to Wednesday and prices start at £2.49.

Spoons regulars have taken to social media to share their excitement over the deal.

One regular called the deal “the gift that keeps on giving”.

Another added: “Oh I’m liking this!”

A third wrote: “It’s hard to believe they can serve great pints for real ale for less than you can buy a bottle at the supermarket.”

The Sun has popped together a list of the items and their average prices available on Ale Wednesdays:

  • Greenwood Hotel £1.79
  • J.J. Moons Ruislip Manor £2.25
  • Moon on the Hill £1.99
  • Red Lion & Pineapple £2.49
  • Sir Michael Balcon £2.49

It isn’t the only time that Wetherspoons customers can get cheap real ale.

The Monday Club returned earlier this year after being axed in 2019 to the dismay of customers.

The chain is selling pints of Ruddles or Worthington’s for just £1,.49, with guest ales available from £1.99.

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

PUB-GOERS love Wetherspoons for its competitive pricing and low-cost meals - but did you know there are more ways to save money?

Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how.

Free refills – Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in

their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.

What other Wetherspoons changes have happened recently?

Wetherspoons recently revealed that small breakfasts would be reduced to £2.99 or less in 650 pubs across the UK.

This only applies to the small breakfast option but includes all the favourites in a traditional breakfast, with bacon, eggs, sausage, beans and a hash brown.

With this deal, customers save at least 35% whereas the breakfast would normally set them back £4.45.

For an additional £1.56, you can add a Lavazza coffee or Twinings tea with unlimited free refills.

Spoons has also been getting into the festive spirit launching its Christmas menu across all branches.

It will be available until New Year’s Eve (December 31).

Customers can order a new pizza version of the popular “big cheese burger” released last year, which is covered in gooey mozzarella, brie, cheddar, blue cheese sauce topped with rocket from £9.84.

This year, the menu also features a never-before-seen burger, pizza and dessert.

The Sun tried the Wetherspoons’ Christmas menu before anyone else – cheese lovers will be thrilled and a new dessert is a must-have.
