A study published in The Lancet Regional Health-Southeast Asia found that over 21% of deliveries in India are via caesarean section (C-section), with higher rates in private facilities. The study analyzed data from 7.2 lakh women across 28 states and eight union territories. C-section rates vary greatly by state, ranging from 5.2% in Nagaland to 60.7% in Telangana.
