Rainbow, Lightning Strike and Antisolar Rays
Photographer: Lorenzo Busilacchi Summary Authors: Lorenzo Busilacchi; Jim FosterShown above is a magical vista I observed on the island of Sardinia (Italy), from the Devil's Saddle, one day in early autumn. In addition to the double rainbow, a lightning strike and anticrepuscular rays accent this scene. Note that the anticrepuscular or antisolar spokes interacting with the light of the colorful rainbow form what's known as a rainbow wheel. Photo taken just before sunset on October 8, 2024.
