Cops probing human remains discovery at Henley, St John

Police confirmed the discovery of what are suspected to be human skeletal remains at Henley, St John.

A release said the remains were found around 11:15 a.m. Thursday after searching a bushy area over the past 24 hours.

Speaking on CBC TV8, Public Affairs and Communications Officer Inspector Rodney Inniss said forensics were still to confirm whether the bones were those of a human, but it was believed to be two people. 

“We have had the area cordoned within the last over 24 hours. It has been a bit of inconvenience to the traveling public. We had traffic diversions in the particular area, both going and coming from that area, and we thank the public for their patience over that period of time,” Inniss said.

He said police officers were still working the area and asked members of the public to avoid going there.

Police described this “historical” and “sensitive”, and updates would be provided to the public when there was more information to share.

Earlier today, lawmen cordoned the entrance to Henley after news made the rounds on social media that a mass grave was found.
