Anyway, no - it's not you.
Whenever I go on a carpark I park miles from anybody because I'm not too lazy to walk and I don't want my car to get dinged. When I get back to the car you can guarantee somebody has parked badly, so close and at an angle that I can't get my driver's door open. Despite the fact I have parked in the middle of nowhere with dozens of spaces available.
It's just a weird aspect of human nature.
I do the same, with the same result.
My wife is always slightly annoyed that I don't just squeeze into the closest space instead. Which is fine, when she drives I get to be annoyed at her for making parking and getting out the car harder by herding with the other cars.
