Man stabbed outside mobile phone shop after ‘fight in the street’ in south London
Witnesses described how ‘all hell let loose’ after a man was stabbed outside of a mobile shop in Peckham
The incident happened on Rye Lane just after 10pm last night, and the shop owner this morning arrived to find pools of blood outside the store.
A local, 28, told Metro: ‘There was shouting and screaming then all hell let loose, there were police everywhere and blue lights flashing. A copper told me it was a stabbing. It can be sketchy around here but it’s still a shock.’
Khan, 23, who owns the shop spoke of his shock as he arrived to open up on Friday.
The shop is cordoned off by police and the pavement outside is spattered with blood.
He told Metro: ‘I’m shocked I’ve come to open up and found this. It was outside the shop which was closed. There is still blood all over the pavement it’s just horrible. I heard it was a fight I don’t know any more.’
A market trader said: ‘There was a fight and lots of lots of shouting. You can see from the amount of blood on the pavement it was serious.’
Peckham lane is lined with shops and restaurant and is busy even late until the evening.
A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘On Thursday, 5 December police were called to Rye Lane, Peckham at 22:26hrs following reports of a stabbing.
‘Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a man for stab injuries.
‘The man was taken to a near-by hospital where his injuries were deemed as non-life threatening/changing.
‘At this early stage, there have been no arrests.

‘Enquiries into the circumstances are on-going, if you have any information then please come forward to police on 101 stating CAD7861/05DEC.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 10.27pm yesterday to reports of a stabbing in Rye Lane, Peckham.
‘We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.
‘The first of our crews arrived in six minutes.’
