Head-on collision in Delaware County kills Columbus man, hospitalizes another
DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH) – A man is dead and another is in the hospital after a head-on collision occurred Thursday night in Delaware County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a crash on US Route 23, south of Cheshire Road in Liberty Township, at around 10:40 p.m. A man operating a 2017 Ford Transit Van was reportedly traveling northbound when he was struck by a man driving a 2015 Honda CRV, heading southbound in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the Honda, 58-year-old Christopher Carden, of Columbus, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford was taken to a Columbus hospital with serious injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision, however the OSHP said it was unknown if either of the drivers were impaired.
No one else was injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
