WATCH: Indian fans mock Mitchell Starc over HUGE drop in IPL salary, pacer gives fitting reply
Australia pacer Mitchell Starc was at the top of his game during the first day of the second Border-Gavaskar series Test at the Adelaide Oval. The 34-year-old picked up 6 wickets in the innings, massively helping his side in bundling out India for 180 runs in the first innings.
Starc finished with highly impressive figures of 6/48. This was the pacer’s 15th Test fifer and it included big wickets of batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.
Recently, Starc was bought by the Delhi Capitals at the IPL auction for a massive fee of INR 11.75 crore. However, this is quite less than the fee that the pacer was given in the last season of IPL as the Kolkata Knight Riders acquired his services for a whopping fee of INR 24.75 crore.
During the first day of the Adelaide Test, several Indian fans were seen mocking Starc from the stands. Notably, the fans were poking fun at Starc’s massive drop in IPL salary.
Starc however, acknowledged the jokes with a thumbs up and a smile. The Australian pacer’s lighthearted response earned him loud cheers from the crowd.
By taking 6 wickets in the first innings of the Adelaide Test, Starc extended his record as the player with the most wickets taken in pink-ball Tests with 71. He will be looking to give another sensational bowling performance in India’s second innings.
