‘Bowlers get the last laugh’: Australia great reacts to Mitchell Starc getting his revenge over Yashasvi Jaiswal

India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series at the Adelaide Oval. It was Australia pacer Mitchell Starc, who caught him leg-before wicket with a brilliant in-swinger. On-field umpire Chris Gaffaney didn’t hesitate one bit before lifting his finger up.

This comes after Jaiswal had mocked Starc in the previous Test in Perth for bowling “too slow.” It’s safe to say that the Australia quick got his sweet revenge over Jaiswal in Adelaide.

Former Australia cricketer Justin Langer reacted to the dismissal and said that one of the “bitter” lessons he learnt as a batter is that the bowlers always “get the last laugh.”

“One thing I’ve learnt at a very young age (is that) bowlers always get the last laugh. Eventually, you’re going to get out,” Langer said, speaking on Star Sports.

“Yeah, you might have a bit of banter with the bowler, but bowlers always get the last laugh. It’s a bitter lesson I’ve learnt early, and Mitchell Starc got the last laugh here,” Langer added.

Despite Jaiswal’s dismissal on the first ball of the match, India’s ship was steadied by the duo of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, who formed a decent 69-run stand. However, Australia fought back right before lunch and managed to pick up 3 quick wickets to put immense pressure on the Indian team and restrict them to 82/4 before the end of first session.
