Meet man who was once a racing hero, now moving barefoot for last 6 years, the reason will leave you surprised
New Delhi: Many have witnessed individuals climb from humble beginnings to achieve greatness. While some get caught up in the allure of fame and glamour, others choose a simpler, quieter life away from the limelight. Today, we’ll share the story of one such person who left a glamorous life to roam barefoot on the streets.
As per a report by Oddity Central, Alex Pons, a former motorcycle racing star, made an unusual decision six years ago. His fans were shocked to see him step away from the glamorous world and start wandering the streets. Once immersed in the fast-paced world of racing, he now leads a slower life, no longer feeling the need to compete or rush.
From Speed to Slow
Alex Pons, a former Moto2 World Championship competitor, has been wandering the world barefoot since making a life-changing decision six years ago. With a backpack on his back, he left behind his racing career, which he had pursued following in the footsteps of his father, the renowned motorcycle racer Cito Pons. After taking a break from racing post-2016 championship, Alex explored a brief modeling career before deciding, in 2019, to travel barefoot across the globe. His unique journey is now gaining attention.
Enough of the Rush
Alex shares that he started wandering barefoot on the streets three years ago to free himself from the burdens of life. Now, he only carries a backpack. During an interview in Pakistan, he appeared completely different from his racing days. From 2008 to 2017, the Spanish racer participated in ten seasons of Moto2, but now, he says he’s tired of the speed and prefers a slower pace of life.
“At some point, I began to question the purpose of living such a fast-paced life,” he shared.
“I started slowing down, little by little, until now I walk slowly, appreciating the finer details of life.”
Reflecting on his barefoot journey from Spain to Asia, Pons explained: “It’s nothing extraordinary; it just came naturally. At a certain point, nothing felt more right than to walk and let go of all the burdens we carry in life, seeking complete union with Allah, or with God.
“This is how we practice, through walking.”
