Woman charged with murder, attempted murder in Ossun house fire
OSSUN, La. (KLFY) -- A Lafayette woman is charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with a Monday morning house fire, authorities said.
As a result of a joint investigation by the Lafayette Fire Department and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Kalayshia Lagrange was arrested on multiple charges.
Lagrange is facing one count of second degree murder and two counts of attempted second degree murder in connection with the fire in a home the 200 block of Latin Dr. in which Malayshia Conley was killed.
Conley, 19, was found inside the house. Her mother, 44, and her 21-year-old brother were taken to a local hospital for treatment of severe burns and smoke inhalation.
Lagrange, a resident of the home, was previously booked in the Lafayette Parish Jail on two bench warrants and a probation and parole warrant.
Lagrange is being held in the Lafayette Parish Jail on $550,000 bond.
