Valle del Este Golf Week with Clinics. 9-16 November 2024.
Our 5th week at 4 star Valle del Este once again proved that this resort understands, and provides, just what we need for an early winter golf week with good organised golf and coaching facilities, coupled to comfortable bedrooms and good cuisine on the half board package.
Recognised as the warmest, driest area of Spain, the 3 golf courses we play offer spectacular desert settings, all of which we found to be in very good condition. At Valle del Este we have at our disposal a double ended range with an excellent short game area adjacent to the hotel and very well organised by friendly staff.
Three rounds at the course on site are complemented by two “away days” at Desert Springs and Aguilon Golf Resorts. Desert Springs being very typical of Arizona courses, while flat and easily walkable, it is a true test of golf, while Aguilon is a more undulating resort course including a few water features to negotiate. It is good to move off resort a couple of times, and worth noting that alongside the hotel is a small complex of bars and restaurants including a supermarket, that also gives a sense of freedom.
Following our first days play, we spent a while on the range to answer a few questions and work on a couple of aspects individually, as we did on a couple of further occasions, taking advantage of the excellent short game area too.
The golf, as always, played in a friendly atmosphere with a little competition to keep us focused. A mixture of team events and the odd 4bbb resulted in Liz T as our leading Lady points scorer by one point from Sarah. The gents leaders were Richard and Philip, but I can’t for the life of me remember who won, and somewhere between the Iberian peninsula and the Canary Islands my results page went astray!!
