FACT: Mohammed Siraj’s 181.6km/h delivery during day-night Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

India and Australia are currently engaged in the pink ball Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, taking place in Adelaide. When India was bowling on Day 1, an image went viral on social media, making a claim that Siraj had bowled at a record-breaking speed of 181.6km/h.

This happened when Siraj came in to bowl during the 34th over and on the last ball of that over, the right arm pacer’s delivery displayed a record-breaking speed on the meter.

It was, however, later found out that it was a technical glitch that showed the speed reading to be this high.

The Indian team had earlier managed to score 180 runs as they decided to bat first, where Yashasvi Jaiswal got dismissed on the first ball and star batter Virat Kohli got out after scoring just 7 runs. Rohit Sharma also got dismissed for just 3 runs. Youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy was a player who stabled the Indian innings as he scored 42 runs off 54 balls.

For the Australian side when bowling, Mitchell Starc was the star bowler, as he picked up six wickets. Skipper pat Cummins and Scott Boland also got 2 wickets each. When the stumps at Day 1 were called, Australia was at 86 runs for the loss of 1 wicket, as they trail India by 96 runs.
