Milaf Cola: Can this new soft drink beat Coca-Cola, Pepsi? It is made up of…, the drink is developed by…, not Dubai or Palestine
Coca-Cola and Pepsi are the undisputed kings of the global soft-drink market, but we have a new challenger in the market, Milaf Cola, uniquely refreshing beverage made from dates by Thurath Al-Madina, a company in Saudi Arabia. Soda-enthusiasts got their first taste of Milaf Cola, the world’s first beverage made from dates, at the recently-held Riyadh Date Festival.
World’s first dates-based beverage
Developed and packaged by Thurath Al-Madina, a subsidiary of Saudi government’s Public Investment Fund, Milaf cola is a refreshing beverage made from locally-sourced fresh dates, and is a healthier alternative to traditional sodas which are packed with empty calories and unhealthy processed sugar.
Milaf Cola does not contain any artificial sweeteners, and is loaded with natural sugars, dietary fibers, and essential minerals, making it a healthy and nutrition-filled refreshment.
Al-Madina’s expansion plans
According to Thurath Al-Madina, Milaf Cola complies with international food safety standards, and prepared from fresh, locally-sourced dates. The fizzy treat is also an eco-friendly option and is in tune with the economic diversification and self-sustainability vision of the Saudi Arabian government which aims to diversity the nation’s oil-based economy in the coming decades.
The refreshing flavour and natural taste of Milaf Cola enthralled the taste buds of soda enthusiasts at the Riyadh Date Festival who couldn’t get enough of the Al-Madina’s innovative beverage.
“It’s like drinking sunshine, if sunshine tasted like dates and happiness,” one person described how it felt like drinking the date-based soft drink.
Thurath Al-Madina, the company behind Milaf cola, said it plans to expand its production line and go global in the near future. The company also has more date-based refreshments in the pipeline, including energy drinks and infused beverages.
