Friend Of ‘Karen’ Blames Hateful Attack On Indian American Family On ‘Brain Injury,’ Not Racism
Arlene Bunch, the white woman who recently went viral for racially harassing an Indian American family aboard an LAX shuttle bus, must be having a rough go of it ever since her face (and middle fingers) has been plastered all over the internet, branding her a racist “Karen,” because, well — she’s clearly a racist Karen. Since the video recorded and posted by Pervez Taufiq — the man who she verbally attacked, along with his wife and two young sons — exploded on social media, Bunch must be going through it because folks in her life are out here calling news stations on her behalf in order to make excuses for her. And when it comes to excuses for a white person’s racist rant, there are really only two that racism apologists default to; either the alcohol made them do it, or it was mental illness. In this instance, it’s the latter.
From KTLA 5:
In an email to KTLA 5 News, a friend says Bunch suffered serious injuries, including brain trauma, in a 2023 natural gas explosion at a condo.
“I know when I have spoken to her, she will talk and talk and ask me what she was just talking about,” the friend said.
In an interview with a local news outlet, Bunch also blamed a brain injury for her tirade and claimed it all began when Taufiq called her a “white trash b***h.”
At some point, I really need a scholar in psychology who specializes in uniquely Caucasian mental illnesses to explain what cognitive ailment would cause a previously non-racist white person to suddenly become a full-on white supremacist bigot. How did Bunch’s alleged brain injury implant racist thoughts into her head that weren’t already there?
Apparently, we’re all supposed to take it at face value that Bunch never in her 64-year-old life had a negative thought about people of Indian descent until she suffered a brain injury, causing her to think, say and believe: “Your family is from India. You have no respect. You have no rules. You think you can push everyone, push, push. That’s what you think you are. You guys are f**king crazy.”
MAGA America would feel insulted if it were suggested that every person with racist and xenophobic views must have something malfunctioning in their brain. (Just look at how offended they get whenever such things are suggested about Donald Trump.) But it’s fine to say when it’s a convenient excuse for someone who has been caught on camera being hateful and seethingly racist.
Go figure.
