Turkish President: Turkey supports continued advance of Syrian rebels

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that Turkey supports the peaceful advance of rebels in Syria.

On Friday, December 6, Erdoğan told reporters that the cities of Idlib, Hama, and Homs have been captured, and the next target is Damascus, the capital of Syria.

He added, “Naturally, we hope the opposition’s movement in Syria continues, but in a peaceful manner.”

According to Erdoğan, no message has been received from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad regarding the initiation of negotiations.

It is worth noting that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is one of the groups supported by Turkey.

Meanwhile, Islamist rebels have captured the cities of Idlib, Hama, and Homs and have now set their sights on Damascus.

This comes as Iran and Russia have expressed concern over the advance of the rebels in various Syrian cities.
