Amtrak train strikes tractor-trailer in Montgomery County
PALATINE BRIDGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Amtrak confirmed that a train traveling from Albany to Toronto on Friday collided with an occupied tractor-trailer that was reportedly obstructing the track. The incident took place around 11:15 a.m. on Spring Street in Palatine Bridge, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) reported.
Deputies arriving to the scene found the tractor-trailer to be significantly damaged, but the truck's driver was unharmed. Officials stated that one person was minorly injured among the 133 passengers and crew members onboard Train 63.
The MCSO stated that no hazardous materials were released in the collision and that the train did not derail. The public is advised to avoid the area as crews continue to remove the truck, the damaged train and debris from the track. The multi-agency investigation is active and ongoing.
