Opelousas Senior High School soft lockdown lifted after Friday gun threat

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- Opelousas Police are investigating reports of a gun found at Opelousas Senior High School which caused the campus to go under a soft lockdown Friday morning.
News 10 was informed that someone in the area reported seeing a gun on campus. Shortly after the school administration issued a soft lockdown while Opelousas Police searched the campus.
St. Landry Parish Superintendent Milton Batiste said the school received a threat via social media.
"We notified OPD, and we have additional law enforcement on campus," Batiste said.
The lockdown was subsequently lifted, but the investigation remains ongoing. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
