On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Shailene confirmed that she would be singing and credited the movie’s music producer Linda Perry for helping her prepare.
“I was like, ‘I can’t sing like Janis.’ And she put me in a lot of uncomfortable situations where she’s like, ‘Alright show up here. Show up here on this date,’” she recalled.
What did Shailene find when she arrived? “A massive empty warehouse with a full band.”
“She’s like, ‘Have fun. Sing some songs,’” she recalled.
The actress praised Janis, who passed away at the age of 27 in 1970, as being “such a groovy chick.”
“She really brought the light to this planet in a really singular way. And it’s been so much fun to dive into her story,” she gushed.
If you missed it, Shailene recently made some very rare comments about a high-profile relationship.
