Juan Soto Rumors: Two Teams Raise Offers To Historic Levels

The price to land Juan Soto is already ridiculously high. And it’s going higher.

The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported Saturday night that two teams increased their offers to the $710 to $730 million range, which would set an MLB record.

The two teams that upped their offers were — shield your eyes Red Sox fans — the New York Mets and New York Yankees. Heyman added that the Mets have the “slightly higher” offer for Soto at the moment.

Despite the Mets and Yankees putting more money on the table for the coveted 26-year-old outfielder, all hope isn’t lost for the Red Sox and the other suitors in the Soto sweepstakes.

“There is no word yet that any of the other three Soto suitors — Red Sox, Blue Jays and Dodgers — are by any means out of this bidding, and it’s possible one of those teams might even be above the New York teams and win the 26-year-old superstar hitter,” Heyman wrote. “Soto won’t necessarily take the exact highest bidder, and he was said to be weighing five enormous bids Saturday night.”

It was reported that each team fully in on Soto had made a contract offer of at least $600 million and it seems like most teams raised their bid after initial discussions. Heyman noted that “at least the top-four offers are believed to be fairly close.”

The Red Sox perhaps could have bettered their offer when they reportedly requested a last-minute meeting with Soto and his representatives.

Boston won’t have much time if they went to revise their bid and go even higher as it seems Soto could come to his highly anticipated decision by Sunday.
