Instant Analysis: Texas still has eyes for CFP, but they'll have to play in 1st round

AUSTIN (KXAN) — There's more football left to be played for the Texas Longhorns, but the 22-19 overtime loss to Georgia in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday definitely hurt.
It was a game of missed opportunities and self-inflicted wounds, much like the first meeting with the Bulldogs on Oct. 19. Texas was penalized 11 times for 94 yards and could only muster two field goals in the first half after racking up 260 yards of offense.
The Texas defense was tremendous yet again, but the offense just couldn't get it going consistently. With the loss, Texas will most likely host a first-round game in the College Football Playoff while Georgia should receive a bye to the quarterfinals. The selection committee will reveal their decisions at noon Sunday.
