Mets, Yankees Offers For Juan Soto Exceed $700 Million
Both the Yankees and the Mets have offered Juan Soto contracts north of $700 million, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
If one of the deals are signed, Soto would blow past Shohei Ohtani‘s record-breaking $700 million contract that he signed last offseason. Heyman noted that the contracts are between the $710-730 million range.

Heyman went on to state that while the Mets have the upper hand money-wise, the totality of the contract might not sway Soto. If the deals are within the same range, the Yankees could retain Soto with the promise of Aaron Judge behind him in the lineup.
“It is believed the Mets may be slightly higher as of Saturday night, but the respective offers appear to be in shouting distance,” Heyman wrote. “The Mets understood from he beginning that the Yankees’ one untouchable advantage in this sweepstakes is their ability to offer a two-time MVP winner, Aaron Judge, as lineup protection.”
Despite Judge being an undeniable bat that could retain Soto, the former National was supposedly an impressive run to the National League Championship Series in 2024 and by the pitch given by David Stearns and Steve Cohen.
Heyman added that the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Dodgers also put together competitive bids, but didn’t include them in the $700 million range. As of Saturday, it seems like the race has tightened to the Yankees and Mets money-wise. The left fielder is expected to sign sometime between now and the end of the Winter Meetings.
