Shocking moment Chinese snooker star Wu Yize subjected to disgusting racism during Shoot Out tournament
CHINESE snooker star Wu Yize was subjected to vile racism during a match in the Shoot Out tournament.
The 21-year-old super potter was taking on Elliot Slessor, who he beat 46-43.
A crowd member shouted a popular Chinese dish after Wu hit a shot[/caption]However, there was a moment in the frame when both players were playing for safety on the yellow.
As Wu lined up to take the shot, the raucous crowd did their best to put the youngster off.
However, after the shot was taken one audience member took it too far.
The man was overheard shouting”Egg fried rice” which caused a rumble of discomfort amongst the spectators.
Egg fried rice is a popular accompaniment in Chinese restaurants and takeaways.
Astonishingly, that wasn’t the first time the crowd has been called into question at the Shoot Out in Leicester.
In another match involving Slessor, this time against Mark Joyce, they were heard championing Gregg Wallace.
A few audience members sang: “There’s only one Gregg Wallace.”
The disgraced MasterChef host has been accused of allegedly making sexual remarks to several women and is under investigation by the MasterChef production company Banijay.
Wallace has strongly denied the accusations.
But fans were quick to compare Slessor, who is bald, with Wallace during his match with Joyce.
The tournament, which was won by Tom Ford, has come under scrutiny for heckling from spectators.
The event features different rules than normal snooker. Players play one frame against a 10-minute shot clock.
Fans watching are allowed to make as much noise as they want to inside the arena, unlike usually having to remain silent.
