Red Sox Given Telling Grade For Efforts In Juan Soto Sweepstakes

It was reported last week all contenders for Soto, including the Red Sox, offered the 26-year-old a contract worth more than $600 million.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman followed up with some historic numbers, reporting the New York Yankees and New York Mets increased their offers to more than $700 million. Heyman indicated the four teams still fighting for Soto — again, including the Red Sox — are thought to be on “equal ground.”
Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy expressed Boston would spend this offseason in hopes of competing in the American League East for years to come. Boston has tried to give Soto the biggest bag in the organization’s history, and the team’s involvement for other top-of-market contributors speaks volumes as well.
Chances are the Red Sox will find out if their pursuit for Soto was a successful one in the very near future.
