Max Fried Rumors: Pitcher To Sign With One Of These Two Teams
Juan Soto apparently isn’t the only marquee MLB free agent who’s generating serious interest from the Red Sox.
Soto obviously is the crown jewel of the open market, and his highly anticipated decision will have a significant impact on how the rest of the offseason unfolds. Included in that projected ripple effect could be the landing spot for Max Fried, who might be the most coveted free-agent starter with Blake Snell settled in with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“Fried priced himself out of Atlanta, but is expected to sign with the Yankees or Red Sox,” USA Today’s Bob Nightengale wrote in a column published Sunday morning. “If Soto goes to the Mets, Fried could find himself in a nice bidding war between the Red Sox and Yankees.”
The Red Sox reportedly have been in touch with Fried over the offseason and he would address a serious need in Boston. That said, the star southpaw reportedly met with the Yankees last week and “really liked” what New York brought to the table.
All told, Fried finds himself in an excellent spot. One way or another, he’s going to sign a very expensive long-term contract. And if the race really is down to Boston and New York, Fried will join a club that’s hellbent on having a successful 2025 season.
