Juan Soto Rumors: This Team ‘Favorite’ To Sign Star Free Agent
After a month-plus of speculation and rumors galore, Juan Soto reportedly is expected to stay in New York.
But no, we’re not talking about the superstar outfielder maintaining his partnership with the Yankees.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale on Sunday morning released his freshest intel on the Soto sweepstakes, which are expected to conclude soon. In doing so, the veteran Major League Baseball insider highlighted the club expected the land the 26-year-old who’s in line to sign a record-breaking contract.
“The New York Mets remain the favorites, executives say, but officials caution that the Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox are all in the same $700-plus million neighborhood,” Nightengale wrote.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman on Saturday night reported that both the Yankees and the Mets pushed their Soto offers north of $700 million in total value. Heyman, another trusted insider, also claimed the Mets’ offer was “slightly higher” than their neighborhood rival’s, which fell in line with the typical aggressive approach from owner Steve Cohen.
So, while multiple clubs appear to still be in the race, we should not be surprised at all if Soto ends up leaving the Bronx and taking his talents to Queens.
