Powerball ticket worth $256 million sold in Queens
FLUSHING, Queens (PIX11) – Someone in New York City just got a whole lot richer.
A winning Powerball ticket worth $256 million was sold in Queens over the weekend, according to lottery officials.
The ticket was sold at a supermarket on Parsons Boulevard in Flushing ahead of Saturday's drawing.
It’s the first Powerball jackpot won in New York since 2020, and the ninth won across the country this year.
Just last week, a lucky New York player won $3.4 million with a ticket sold in Manhattan, and a handful of other players won tens of thousands of dollars in New York lottery draws.
Now, for the next Powerball drawing, the jackpot sits at only $20 million. But a massive pot is still available for MegaMillions players, who could win up to $619 million in the next drawing.
