I tried a new dupe for Dyson’s £479.99 Airwrap that’s £397 cheaper – it has a gorgeous travel case & curls brilliantly

IT remains one of the most sought after hair tools on the market, and will undoubtedly feature on numerous Christmas lists this year.

But the Dyson Airwrap is also pricey, and will set you back a whopping £480.

So more and more companies are releasing dupes of the world-famous hair styler in the hopes of winning over those looking for a cheaper option.

Mark Hill is one of the latest to drop a dupe, and Maisy didn’t hang about before getting one and comparing it to her Dyson.

The first notable difference is the price.

The Dyson Airwrap comes in at £480 when it’s not on offer, while the Mark Hill Flexi Air Styler retails for £169.99, but is currently on sale for just £82.50 in Boots.

“So I guess what you’re now asking is do you get £310 worth more for the Dyson than you do with Mark Hill?” Maisy began her TikTok video.

One of the first differences is that Dyson has two different size barrel attachments, while the Mark Hill one has just the one.

Size and weight wise, the stylers are much the same, and they also both come with vented brush attachments.

“These are personally my favourite as I have shorter hair at the moment so I don’t tend to curl it, although every time I wash it I will then dry it with these attachments,” Maisy added.

The Mark Hill brush attachment is both bigger and wider than the Dyson one, with Maisy adding: “The Dyson will give you a tighter more blown out kind of curl whereas the Mark Hill will give you more of a blown out look and a flick at the end.”

They both turn into hair dryers, with the Mark Hill one turning into a “kind of handheld hair dryer”.

The last thing Maisy weighed in on was the case the styler comes in.

The Mark Hill one comes in a “really cool bubblegum pink case”, which is “also really lightweight so that when you take it on holiday you know it’s not taking up too much weight”.

The Dyson meanwhile comes in a “luxurious box”, which looks “lovely on the dresser top”.

“The Dyson also comes with this travel bag which is again the same luxury feeling kind of velvet velour material with the piping around the side,” Maisy said, as well as showing the pink bag that the Mark Hill one comes with.

Then it came to actually trying the two stylers, which Maisy did on either side of her hair.

She began by drying her hair with the vented brush attachment, as she said: “I genuinely prefer the Mark Hill version of the brush attachment and that’s just because it’s got a much bigger brush which means you can dry your hair a lot quicker.

“Whereas the Dyson’s brush attachment is a lot smaller which is great if you’ve got a lot more time and you kind of want to flick the ends.”

She then swapped the brushes for the curling barrel attachments, as she added: “I have to admit I do love how easy these hairstyles are.

“Where my hair is quite short and thin I don’t even need to section it, I can literally just put the hairstyler in my hair and it will just suck it up which I just think is so cool.”

Once she’d finished with the Dyson side, which looked “very nice and blown out”, she moved onto the other side, where she used the Mark Hill styler.

“That is both sides now done, I’m just giving it a quick comb through so the curls sit nicely,” Maisy concluded.

“Obviously at this point the Dyson side had dropped out ever so slightly because I’ve been doing the Mark Hill side. but I quite like it like that.

“Personally I don’t like it too curly.”

People were quick to weigh in on Maisy’s video comparison, with one writing: “Omg loveee !!!! I actually prefer the Mark Hill version.

“Your hair is gorgeous!”

She then tried out both – using the Mark Hill one on the left side and the Dyson on the right
