Motorway blocked by car fire and oil leak with long delays near Stansted Airport
Drivers hoping to catch a flight from Stansted Airport are facing long delays after a crash on the M11.
The motorway is closed southbound between junctions 7 and 7a for Harlow and Chelmsford, after two vehicles crashed, one of which then leaked fuel and caught fire.
The fire has been put out now, but drivers are facing 90-minute delays and at least four miles of congestion on approach.
Elsewhere, Storm Darragh is still having an impact on several rail lines across the UK following a ‘danger to life’ red weather warning issued by the Met Office.
Fallen trees and damaged overhead electric wires have caused delays and cancellations for seven different rail networks this morning.
And London Underground commuters are facing disruption on the Piccadilly line for a second week in a row.
There’s no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge yet again due to ‘poor rail conditions caused by significant leaf fall’.
