What Happened at Taylor Swift's Final 'Eras Tour' Show? Emotional Surprise Songs, Changed Lyrics, But No Announcements
Everyone was hoping that Taylor Swift would make a major announcement during her final show of The Eras Tour, but that didn’t happen.
The 34-year-old singer performed the 149th and final show of the tour on Sunday (December 8) at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada.
For the last few months, Swifties have been waiting on the edge of their seats hoping that Taylor would announce the release of reputation (Taylor’s Version) or Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version), the two remaining re-recorded albums. There have been so many theories about when the albums would be announced, but none of the theories panned out.
One wild fact that fans discovered is that December 8, 2024 marks exactly 1,989 days since Taylor‘s master recordings were sold away from her on June 29, 2019.
Some fans thought that the significance of 12/8/24 could have been why it was chosen as the final date of the tour, with some thinking Taylor would announce both of the final re-recorded albums at the same time. That unfortunately did not happen.
So, what did happen?

“I was thinking about it, because we’ve had so long to prepare for the end of this tour. So I was trying to think about what songs encapsulate how I feel about tonight, so I decided to go back to the beginning,” Taylor said while introducing the first mash-up of the night.
Taylor kicked things off with a mash-up of “A Place in This World” from debut and “New Romantics” from 1989 as her surprise for the guitar section.
When she moved to the piano, Taylor performed an emotional mash-up of three songs: “Long Live” from Speak Now, “New Year’s Day” from reputation, and “The Manuscript” from The Tortured Poets Department.
During “Long Live,” Taylor changed the lyrics from “it was the end of a decade” to “it was the end of an era.” Aww!
