Electricity workers and engineers in Varanasi will wear black armbands on Tuesday to protest against the proposed privatization of Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Electricity Distribution Corporations. They are urging the Chief Minister and Energy Minister to intervene and protect employee interests, fearing job losses and demotions. The workers allege the Power Corporation is misrepresenting deficit data.
