Taliban relocates TTP fighters’ families from Nangarhar to other provinces
Local sources in Nangarhar province say that the families of members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are being relocated from districts such as “Shinwar,” “Ghani Khel,” “Kot,” “Beti Kot,” “Momand Dara,” and “Goshta” to Kabul and northern provinces of Afghanistan.
At least two local sources have confirmed that the relocation is being coordinated by the Taliban authorities.
These sources say that the families are being transferred at night using special vehicles, moving from Nangarhar’s districts to other regions.
In recent days, several commanders and members of the Pakistani Taliban have been killed in Kunar.
Last Tuesday, Umar Bajaur, a senior commander of the Pakistani Taliban, along with two other members of the group, was killed in a shooting by “unknown gunmen” while they were guests of a member of the Afghan Taliban in the Shigal district of Kunar.
Local Taliban authorities in Nangarhar have not made any statements on this matter so far.
In recent days, reports on social media suggested that the Taliban, in coordination with Pakistan’s authorities, have relocated some families of TTP members from Afghanistan’s border regions to Ghazni province.
The relocation of families linked to the TTP raises questions about the Taliban’s handling of cross-border militancy and its relationship with Pakistan.
While the Taliban deny any complicity in harboring militants, the reports of relocation and the lack of official clarification from both Afghanistan and Pakistani authorities contribute to the ambiguity surrounding the issue. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this issue will impact the regional dynamics and the broader security environment.
