Israel deploys military forces in Syrian buffer zone

According to The New York Times, citing two Israeli sources, the Israeli military, in response to rapid developments in Syria, has crossed a buffer zone between the two countries and established defensive positions in strategic areas.
The report further states that Israeli ground forces have taken control of Mount Hermon in Syria and have secured several other key defensive positions.
Al Arabiya reported on Monday, December 9 that Israel, following recent developments in Syria, has deployed its forces to several sensitive locations within the demilitarized zone, which is monitored by the United Nations, for defensive purposes.
According to this media outlet, Israel has stationed additional troops in the Golan Heights near the Syrian border to “strengthen defenses in the area and prepare for various scenarios.”
