Jamie Carragher throws his weight behind the ‘Levy Out’ movement

Jamie Carragher has just explained why he thinks it is time for Daniel Levy to step aside and let someone else call the shots at Tottenham Hotspur.

Who is to blame: Ange Postecoglou or Daniel Levy?

Postecoglou is undeniably under a lot of pressure at the moment, with a lot of Spurs fans losing faith that the side will ever achieve consistency under him.

However, based on the reaction on social media, a decent proportion of the fan base is aiming their anger at Levy rather than the Tottenham head coach, accusing the Spurs boss of failing to back yet another manager.

It now looks like the pressure on Levy is also being turned up by influential voices in the media.

Jamie Carragher makes clear statement on Daniel Levy

Carragher admitted that he has been a supporter of the Tottenham chairman for the work he has done to build the club into what it is today.

However, the former Liverpool defender insisted that the time has come for the 62-year-old to step aside and for someone else to take over the reins.

The pundit told Sky Sports: “It’s probably time for someone else to come in because to not win a trophy in that period of time with the managers they have had. They’ve not really ever gone out of their way in the transfer market, they’ve spent decent money without blowing other teams out the water, but the wage bill is always amongst the smallest so they’re never going to get the best players.

“So it might be the time for actually Daniel Levy, who I have been a supporter of because you look at the work he has done in terms of the stadium, but now that work is done with the stadium and training ground – someone else needs to be in charge of this football club.”

Getting Levy out of the door is next to impossible

It is certainly a positive that Levy is coming under pressure from influential figures in the media and from the Tottenham fan base.

The Spurs chairman’s decisions need to be scrutinised and the failure of yet another project at N17 reflects extremely poorly on him – the man who hired Postecoglou and Johan Lange.

However, Levy is part-owner of Tottenham, and it is going to be next to impossible to get him out of the club unless someone makes an offer that he and ENIC feel represents good value.
