12/9/2024: Mostly rain, with snow and ice north
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
Temperatures are starting off around freezing in the Capital District this morning, and will only continue to rise into the upper 30's as our next storm system approaches this afternoon.
That means that, from the Tri-Cities and towards the south, we expect just about all rain starting midday and lasting trough this evening.
In the Adirondacks, North Country, Vermont and the northern Berkshires, however, it will be just cold enough to support wintry mix and snow. One to three inches of snow is expected in the Adirondacks and Green Mountains, with up to a tenth of an inch of ice in those spots, as well and the northern Berkshires. Not the worst winter storm we've ever seen - but still potentially slippery! Go slow out there!
More showers are possible Tuesday, especially in the afternoon and evening. Steadier rain is expected for much of Wednesday wit highs near 50. That system could end with a burst of snow as cold air surges in behind it.
Back to chilly air for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with mainly quiet weather. Sunday will feature a few showers wit highs closer to 40.
