Earn while you learn: NYC Parks Department has paid training, job search help
NEW YORK (PIX11) – One department in New York City government will not only pay for your training but will help you find employment after your contract is up.
The New York City Parks Department is looking to hire a worker for its Parks Opportunity Program. You'll learn about the general maintenance of the city's parks, playgrounds and other public green spaces.
A POP employee will work with the Parks Department for six months. The salary rate is $18.54 an hour and you'll have the opportunity to work 40 hours a week.
There aren't any formal education or work experience requirements. You may need to work early in the morning, late at night or on weekends and you must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather.
The Parks Department will train you and help you earn credentials like a GED, a driver's license and other certifications. It also gives career counseling.
