FedEx: Our new facility in Plzeň is part of a series of investments in Central and Eastern Europe

0

Federal Express Corporation has officially opened its new facility in Plzeň, Czech Republic. This investment represents another step in FedEx’s commitment to Central and Eastern Europe, designed to meet the increasing demand for logistics, e-commerce, and local manufacturing.

Strategically located in the Czech Republic, the new Plzeň facility spans 2,600 square meters—nearly doubling the size of the previous site. The modern complex features a warehouse and office space, including 23 courier van docking bays and eight additional docks for linehaul vehicles. A key innovation is its motorized belt sorter with DIM capabilities, which boosts operational efficiency. Additionally, the facility is equipped with eco-friendly photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging stations.

The Plzeň facility is seamlessly integrated into FedEx’s extensive European Road Network, with direct routes to major logistics centers in Nuremberg, Vienna, and Hanover. It also connects to the FedEx Air Network via Prague Airport, enabling swift, reliable delivery services across Europe and globally. The European Road Network, one of the largest in the region, spans 45 countries and handles over 1.3 million international shipments per week, offering the unique advantage of managing both parcels and freight within a single streamlined system.

“With its technologies and strategic location, we can offer our customers even better services, supporting their international aspirations and operational needs,” said Mariusz Mik, Vice President Ground Operations Nordics, Eastern Europe, FedEx. “ Our new facility in Plzeň is part of a series of investments in Central and Eastern Europe to support regional economic growth and expand FedEx’s presence there.”

FedEx’s Commitment to the Czech Republic
The opening of the Plzeň facility marks another milestone in FedEx’s ongoing expansion across the Czech Republic and the broader CEE region. FedEx currently operates five facilities in the country. In 2022, the company inaugurated its largest and most technologically advanced facility in Prague, covering 10,000 square meters. Over the past four years, FedEx has modernized or established logistics facilities across six CEE countries, totaling over 45,000 square meters.

Plzeň: A Strategic Logistics Hub
The Czech Republic has become an increasingly attractive destination for high-value projects in research, development, and business services. FedEx’s network, with the new Plzeň facility, supports this trend, driving regional economic growth and reinforcing the Czech Republic’s position as one of the key logistics hubs in Europe.

Plzeň, the Czech Republic’s fourth-largest city, is an industrial powerhouse known for its strong presence in mechanical engineering, food processing, and energy production. Its strategic location, with easy access to Prague and Bavaria via the D5 motorway, makes it an ideal base for FedEx’s expanding logistics network.
