Carry On and The Avengers star who became kids’ TV favourite dies aged 87 as daughter shares emotional tribute
CARRY On star and kids’ TV legend Julie Stevens has died aged 87.
The actress and TV presenter passed away following a three-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Julie’s daughter confirmed her mum’s death with a post shared to the Legends of Kids TV social media page.
The post read: “JULIE STEVENS. I received this from her daughter Rachel.
“It’s with great sadness I let you know that Julie died on Thursday, after a difficult 3 years with Parkinson’s.
“Thankfully it was very peaceful at the end.”
In a further statement sent to the Sun, she added the last few years were “difficult” following her diagnosis.
“But she faced it as she did all challenges, with good humour and great charm.”
Rachel said her mum “will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her ability to make every child feel seen, and her lasting legacy in the world of children’s television”.
Julie was just a few weeks short of marking her 88th birthday.
Julie was best known for her role as Venus Smith in the iconic television series The Avengers.
She also starred as Gloria in classic Carry On movie Carry On Cleo.
During her career, she also co-starred in popular ITV series Girls About Town.
Julie was also one of the most popular children’s TV stars throughout the Sixties and Seventies.
She was a regular presenter on Play School, Watch with Mother and Cabbages and Kings.
Julie also had acting roles in other various shows including Z Cars and Holby City.
