Netflix leads all distributors with 36 total Golden Globes nominations
The Golden Globes announced the nominees for the 82nd Golden Globes on Monday, and Netflix leads all the other distributors in quantity of nominations on both the film and TV sides. Netflix earned 36 total nominations, with 13 for movies and 23 for television, handily besting all other competitors.
The streaming service’s “Emilia Perez” helped boost the nomination count, as the musical crime dramedy leads all films with a record-breaking 10 nominations, including Best Picture — Musical or Comedy and acting noms for Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, and Zoe Saldaña. Netflix also earned one nomination apiece for “Hit Man,” “Maria,” and “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.”
A24 is in second place on the distributor side with 12 nominations, helped by the seven noms for “The Brutalist.”
On the TV side, Netflix leads again with 23 nominations spread across 13 programs, with three apiece for “Baby Reindeer,” “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” “Nobody Wants This,” “Ripley,” and “The Diplomat.”
HBO | Max is in second place, with “The Penguin” and “True Detective: Night Country” leading with three each. The Globes count FX and Hulu as separate distributors, otherwise FX/Hulu combined would be in second place with 15 nominations thanks to five for “The Bear” and four for “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shogun.” Those three are the most-nominated shows.
