Golden Globe Awards: First-time nominees include Ariana Grande, Mikey Madison, Pamela Anderson
The 2025 Golden Globe nominations were announced on Monday morning, Dec. 9, and there were 26 performers who came away with their first ever bids. That includes ingenues like Mikey Madison in “Anora” and Ariana Grande in “Wicked,” as well as breakthrough veterans Kathryn Hahn in “Agatha All Along” and Pamela Anderson in “The Last Showgirl.” Scroll down for the list of first-timers, including a few filmmakers making their debuts for Best Director.
It was a good morning for “Emilia Pérez,” which picked up a leading 10 nominations, more than any other film or TV show. That included the first career bids for lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón and her co-star Zoe Saldaña, On television, “Shōgun” swept in its cast for first-time nominations: Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, and Tadanobu Asano, all repeating on their 2024 Emmy nominations.
It might be surprising that “Power of the Dog” Oscar nominee and “Fargo” Emmy nominee Jesse Plemons had never received a Globe nom before, but he is finally recognized for his performance in “Kinds of Kindness.” He’s joined in the Best Film Comedy/Musical Actor category by fellow first-timers Gabriel LaBelle (“Saturday Night“) and Glen Powell (“Hit Man“). So just how many first-time nominees will become first-time winners when the prizes are handed out on Jan. 5?
