Mets Interested in Reliever Jonathan Loáisiga
Here we go again. The Mets want a former Yankee free agent.
Having added former Yankees Frankie Montas, Clay Holmes and superstar outfielder Juan Soto this offseason, a source told ESPN Monday the Mets are interested in another player who last played in the Bronx: Jonathan Loáisiga.
The Mets, Yankees, Padres and Rangers are all interested in the 30-year-old right-handed reliever who missed almost all of 2024 after UCL surgery on his right elbow in April. (He tossed four shutout innings for the Yanks this year).

In his seven years in MLB, all with the Yankees, Loáisiga is 19-11 with a 3.44 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. His best season came in 2021 when he went 9-4 with a 2.17 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and fanned 69 in 70.2 innings while compiling 3.3 bWAR. In 2021, he had the eighth-best run value on the sinker (13), with hitters xBA at .215 and xSLG at .274. His best pitch is the sinker, which he has thrown 39 percent of the time in his career, per FanGraphs, and can touch 98 mph.
